Reyn, I love it. I only recognized the Easter Island totem, but the entire thing is fantastic.

Great start, Reyn.
I particularly like the tones in the lower left.
Centre combo's a neat mix of items.

Great! Nice to see it pleases someone other than myself! Laughing I had a lot of fun doing it.

The idea is to give a surrealist effect.

I have other ideas in the planning stage.

I am not Ms. Surrealism, but I might review it re Dali - Magritte. The only works I've seen in person were the Magrittes shown at the Hammer, and I guess I have a diff sense of his filling the field of the "canvas". Not sure though, it was a hour or two a decade or more ago that I stared at them. Not that you want to reproduce his proportions, but evaluate them re your own choices.

I'd consider being more spare re references at one time, even though you can legitimize yours being grouped.

Not to carp, but you asked. As far as ability re collaging as a photo technique, I have no clue; am just looking at the composition/content.

Thanks for your input!

My whole take on this stuff is that it is very therapeutic and relaxing for me to do. Basically, I do what looks good to me. I'm really quite a "talentless person" and this is something I can do and looks not half bad. If someone else likes it, so much the better. I couldn't imagine being an artist for a living. Yikes! Shocked

This is the first time I've done a piece that has a somewhat recognizable landscape. I have my favorite picture framed, which I did way back in 1993, and on the wall in our computer room. I wish I had a scanner so you folks could see. I'm quite proud of my little effort. It's quite a complex collection of images, but is totally different from the above work.

Thanks for your interest....

Keep at it, Reyn, and let us have an occasional look as you're going along. I find any type of art or craft I attempt changes as I get more experienced with more techniques, or as my 'eye' changes.

It's nice to have forums like this where you can track your own, and others, development.

I've noticed how much my writing style has changed from being on forums like Abuzz, A2K, Taunton etc. The effect of decades of report-writing is somewhat blunted by the opportunity to just write. Good thing.

Hey, thanks, I like that idea. It's nice to get encouragement from others. My wife gives me lots, but she loves me....haha! So, it's nice to get an independent opinion, if you know what I mean.

Not sure if you caught my other post in this forum. I have this planned as a possible next project to work on. Was wondering if it's "been done before".

I'm considering making a collage of A2K avatars as a fun project.

Not quite a collage, but superjuly decorated a Christmas tree with the avatars of people who wanted to send Christmas greetings to each other. It was a sweet thread.

Reyn,

IMHO you have done some excellent work for your first attempt using a digital medium.

The stark contrasts masked by the subtle tones creates a dimension that is food for the eye. You have managed to capture the essence of a mood that creates a palate for the eye.

I have seen many attempts, but yours caught my eye immediately. Though not perfect, even perfection is in the eye of the beholder.

I applaud your efforts and appreciate your sharing.

Hey, thanks for the high praise! This first attempt was more of an experiment to see what I could do with this medium. I have done more work with paper cutouts.

Stay tuned.....

Love this!
Love this! I did one placing ancient artifacts on the moon. Placing them in the desert gives them a different meaning (like the sands of time).

Thank you for sharing.
