I remember one of the occasions, fishin'. Hey, even the courts recognize provocation.

Yeah, she said he had requested an absentee ballot, so he wouldn't miss the election! Gotta love that spirit.

I saw that thing with Joan too, but who's to say that's not from Abuzz? I.e., an exchange between them that this person saw? Has anyone (magginkat, etc.) actually spoken to JayBea or anyone?

Same with absentee ballot -- hardly proof. (Who _wouldn't_ expect that of Anon?)

My instincts are see-sawing on this one, and I have no problem offering sympathy just in case. But yeah, I'd certainly prefer, on the balance, that this were a sick joke.

The comment I was referring to came right after the absentee ballot comment. JanGlibert wrote "am between classes. Talked with Jaybea. She is reading this to Anon. I printed it for her. You will like this, he wants an absentee ballot. If you need to verify me he had a message. He said tell Joanie she missed her chance. I don't even know what means yet, got to go."

joanlee11 later responded: "I recognize the joke. Anon is quite the cut-up sometimes, which is one of the things I enjoy about him. I really believe that humor is what keeps us sane. Well, in my case, semi-sane. Stay strong."

Now unless JanGilbert is really Anon himself I don't think joan would go along with that.

I have Anon's home number here and I've tried calling twice myself with no answer.

Right, that's what I was referring to. Maybe the thing to do is follow up with Joan, to find out the origin of the joke. I'm saying that the joke could easily have been on Abuzz, for anyone to see.

Anyway, the many things that seem off to me could totally just be a coincidence. I'm just curious if anything has come directly from anyone but JanGilbert.

Happy to know Anon is okay and able to vote! I've just about had it with Abuzz -- I've been sending offending posts through several different channels and it doesn't seem to do any good. But if someone puts up a positive post on Abuzz to encourage Anon Voter, would they please link it from here?

Here is the progress report from Jan:

He wants me to tell you not to worry, that everything will be all
right. Jaybea is staying there at the hospital
because she collapsed from fatigue. She is ok, just very tired
and in a little shock still. There is talk of moving them both to
private care, maybe as early as tomorrow if he can be moved. He
has movement but is pretty
busted up. Severe head trauma, collarbone, shoulder, many ribs
broken. He has quipped about his costume and being ready for
Halloween now. He is overwhelmed by the reaction at Abuzz, I
guess he never realized how many friends he really has there.
Jaybea has been reading the notes and all the emails I print out
for them. He about hocked up his tubes when he heard he was dead.
He said to tell Joanie that she had her chance while he was
alive.
He hasn't told me if he's being perverse, or what. He has
moments, but is asleep most of the time. The doctors say he will
fully recover, it's just going to be a while. I have to go see
them as soon as I pick up the kiddos.
I'm going over to the house to pick up his laptop. That has
everyone's emails and numbers in it. I won't be working in the
dark anymore. Dad says not to worry. It's going to be all right.
He also asked me to have you email
this to the right people, that you will know who they are. Thank
you and everyone for helping us through this. We were sure he
was gone, but you know him.

Chayiah, Anon wants you to quit the conspiracy talk. Please. This
is much too serious for that.

I'm cutting classes today to get everything done. I have
misunderstood about when and where they are moving Anon. They are
moving him from intensive care to a private room where both he
and Jaybea can stay. She really can't be left alone. They are not
moving them to private care for a week, and something may be set
up in the house itself. I will be giving the home address and
phone number to the people Anon verifies on his laptop, which I
have now. I am going to see them in just a little while. Many
people have said they want to send flowers and the like. They
request you do something for your favorite charity. Anon is
making remarkable progress, claims he looks like the mummy
returns. Anon may have a dialup in his next room, you could see
him back here sooner than you think. It will be fun to watch him
to try to type. He said he may try to make a couple of phone
calls tonight if they move him early enough today, there are no
phones where he is now. They are both in good spirits, and Jaybea
is eating again now. She had lost 5 pounds she didn't have to
lose. Anon had a short mail call.

Joanie, Frannie, Maggie, Nomsisa, Siobhan, Chayiah, I love you
all. Wonderful heartfelt friends who have been with me forever.
There aren't enough words to express my feelings for you all.

I will be back in touch later today.

I forgot something. My dad was suppose to drive for the election.
If anyone who doesn't have plans will drive for people since he
can't, he would appreciate it. He said he would cover the gas :-)

Sound like he was really knocked around but the most serious thing is the head injury. If he's in a private room now, recovering would seem to be
optimistic. I'm afraid I've lost interest in Abuzz -- there wasn't even any good material for Tinfoil Hat. But I did post a link on the Tinfoil Hat here -- kinda "here's lookin' at you, kid."

A head injury that can be deadly for one person can be only "critical" or "serious" or "inconvenient" for someone else. A great deal depends on the thickness of the skull.

He wouldn't be moving out of the ICU if the hospital hadn't rated his head injury as "inconvenient".

Personally, I equate a sense of humor with a lack of brain damage. Since the good cheer is followed by an attempt to organize a Get Out The Vote in San Francisco, I think the prognosis is excellent.

Of course broken ribs hurt when you laugh--or sneeze or cough. I found it very difficult to read a standard newspaper with a broken collarbone. Still, if Anon Voter heals in the standard 6-8 weeks he'll be able to toast Auld Lang Syne on New Year's.

I like happy endings.

SAINT ANON - MURDERED BY VICIOUS ABUZZER - SCREAMS FROM ABOVE - VOTE DEMOCRATIC !!!

Anon Voter, struck down by a vicious, mindless, Abuzzer, beseeches all Liberals and
Democrats and Greens to band together and flood the polls to vote. He will observe from
above, blessing all those who vote for Peace, Freedom, Conscience, Good Will and Good
Sense.

Republicans Repent - Vote Democratic !!

Needless to say who has put me up to this ;-)

Jan Gilbert

Vote Democratic? Where have you been? Well, maybe, in California, you got your wish. All the top elective positions were won by Democrats, but you must remember that Davis is one of the most unpopular govenors in this country. He lost over four billions dollars on energy contracts for this state, and he sells his soul to get donations for his re-electioin campaign. On the subject of national elections: Yes, the GOP got a sweep of congress and many other elective offices. However, we are going to see the US now involved with a war with Iraq, our environment getting more polluted, and a permanent tax cut that will keep this government running on deficit for the foreseeable future. Good luck! I voted all Green party candidates just on the principal of the whole mess we are all in. c.i.
