Chronicles of Amber and follow ups

I have just finished reading the Chronicles (by Zelazny). I really loved all the ten volumes, but to me it seems there are some unfinished things. Am I the only one who has this feeling?

The most disturbing thing for me is the new Pattern. I was expecting to get more information about this. And also about the Eye of the Serpent (the Judgement Stone) and how Coral is using it. And Julia? And so on?

And also the universe does not seem to be really completed. It is (IMHO) not as good as the Universe created by Tolkien. From the point of view of the complexity, the LotR universe is really impressive. (Silmarilion, The Hobbit, LotR etc).

Do you know if I can find some extra books that continue the chronicles? Or maybe some short stories, so that I can get all of Zelasny's Universe.

I have read somewhere that some prequels are available to this Amber Universe, but they are written by a different author (dunno his name). Have anybody read them? Should I read them?

And now, that I've read the Amber stuff, what do you think I should pick up next? I was going for LeGuin (Earth and Sea). Do you think it's a wise choice? I was thinking to read some fantasy classics and then start with the new ones. Any suggestions? A good advice is always appreciated. Thanks.

I think that the "Amber" novels are some of the best books written, but only the first four, and the sixth isn't bad. It was as though he lost interest. The prequels are by John Gregory Betancourt. The first is only average, but they get much better as they continue.

Another Zelazny book which is both great and easy to get into is "Doorways in the Sand." "Lord of Light" is extraordinary, but it takes awhile to figure out what he's doing.

I have also enjoyed the last novels (Merlin ones), 'cose 'till now I didn't read anything involving Mages. It was quite fun to see how some ideas from Fantasy books were used in RolePlayGames (spells, preparing spels, arranging them, learning them...). And the action was more than oki.

I am going to read the LeGuin books now... hopefully they don't have too many loose ends. Btw, LeGuin has finished the EarthSea saga? 'cose I hate when I have to wait the release of sequels.

Sad( I've read the EarthSea books (the first three of them). IMHO, they are not as good as the Amber ones, at least from the point of view of the action and language. So I will not try to continue with the other EarthSea novels. (I would rather read some other books from the "Left hand of Darkness" universe).

So now I started the Wheel of Time series. And it looks really promissing, only that I hate the fact that (for now) it is not finished. What happens if Jordan dies??? Hate this kind of stuff.
