mg, I did a search "inside the book" at Amazon of both Silence of the Lambs and Hannibal. Both books have her middle initial mentioned as M, but neither told what that stood for, as far as I could tell.

Im thinking it may be her mothers first name initial.They only focus on her dad in the film/book.
