Muppet songs

Many a time I have watched the muppets/Sesame treet and I have really loved songs from the show, especially the one sung with Julia Roberts.

I have a couple of Wombles (UK 70's kids show)albums and the songs are really good, better than Eurovision and some chart songs!!

Does anybody else think that some songs on TV are wasted and should be given a chance in the charts?

Oh yeah, but mostly some one eventually picks up on them and rehashes them.

Remember The Dickies doing the Banana Splits theme?

And those dance tracks in the early 1990s that flogged themes from TV shows? Like I Dream Of Jeanie and the Twilight Zone? And more recently the X-Files theme was ripped off by at least four different recorders, and triple J have been playing something that samples the 6 Feet Under theme.

The Monkees and the Archies really blurred the lines. And I've got The Goodies greatest hits. And everyone on Neighbours has released a track. It's hard to believe now but the soundtrack for the Magnificent Seven was never released at the time of the film, so one of the most memorable pieces of music, written by Elmer Bernstein, never sold a unit (but lots of Marlborough).

There's the Ren & Stimpy classic Royal Canadian Kilted Yaksmen anthem:

Our country reeks of trees
Our yaks are really large
And they smell like rotting beef carcasses
And we have to clean up after them
And our saddle sores are the best
We proudly wear womens clothing
And searing sand blows up our skirts
And the buzzards, they soar overhead
And poisonous snakes will devour us whole
And our bones will bleach in the sun.
And we will probably go to /*hell*/
And that is our great reward.
For being the-uh Roy-al Canadian Kilted Yaksmen.

And Log:

What rolls down stairs alone or in pairs
Rolls over your neighbor's dog...
What fits on your back, is great for a snack
It's log log log
It's LO-OG It's LO-OG
It's big it's heavy it's wood.
It's LO-OG It's LO-OG
It's better than bad it's good!
Everyone wants a log
You're gonna love it, log
Come on and get your log
It's Log Log Log!

I Love Trash
sung by Oscar the Grouch (Carroll Spinney)
Written by Jeff Moss
1970 Festival Attractions, Inc. (ASCAP)

Oh, I love trash!
Anything dirty or dingy or dusty
Anything ragged or rotten or rusty
Yes, I love trash

I have here a sneaker that's tattered and worn
It's all full of holes and the laces are torn
A gift from my mother the day I was born
I love it because it's trash

Oh, I love trash!
Anything dirty or dingy or dusty
Anything ragged or rotten or rusty
Yes, I love trash

I have here some newspaper thirteen months old
I wrapped fish inside it; it's smelly and cold
But I wouldn't trade it for a big pot o' gold!
I love it because it's trash

Oh, I love trash!
Anything dirty or dingy or dusty
Anything ragged or rotten or rusty
Yes, I love trash

I've a clock that won't work
And an old telephone
A broken umbrella, a rusty trombone
And I am delighted to call them my own!
I love them because they're trash

Oh, I love trash!
Anything dirty or dingy or dusty
Anything ragged or rotten or rusty
Yes, I love, I love, I love trash!

It's time to play the music
It's time to light the lights
It's time to meet the Muppets on the Muppet Show tonight.

It's time to put on makeup
It's time to dress up right
It's time to raise the curtain on the Muppet Show tonight.

Why do we always come here
I guess we'll never know
It's like a kind of torture
To have to watch the show

And now let's get things started
Why don't you get things started
It's time to get things started
On the most sensational inspirational celebrational Muppetational
This is what we call the Muppet Show

You know what I love now that Sesame Street does frequently is to have popular music groups and celebrities sing or do skits with the muppets. I love "Pride" - REM sings with Elmo about being proud about all the things he can do now. Hootie and the Blow Fish sing, "Hold My Hand" about crossing the street. And "Furry Happy Monsters" is also great. A good way to get parents watching with their children.
