The only reason it looks like there should be a comma is because you have the title of Mr. Lawrence Wong inserted before his name.
Is "the reason ... is because" used by native speakers. I was taught that the two words cannot be used together. Do native speakers ignore this rule?

I did not know there was such a rule. It is a way of speaking which I have often used.

Your example is considered grammatically correct, although it's vaguely redundant.
Using "the reason is because" as a phrase is awkward and incorrect in writing, but more probably acceptable in colloquial speaking.
