Should "chief priest" be capitalised? Am I right to say that it should be in lowercase?
But for "Chief Priest Maekawa", am I correct to say that "chief priest" should be in uppercase?
Thanks.
This is a case in which you would need someone to tell you what British usage would be. In American usage, you might say: "John Jones--who is the dhief priest--alleges that the practice is impermissible." But: "Chief Priest Johns Jones alleges that the practice is impermissible." In American usage, the name of the office is given without capitalization. When used as a title, however, it is capitalized. Does that explanation make sense to you?
@Setanta,
Thanks, Setanta,
Your explanation makes sense.
