Are the commas needed?

We are learning about “The Opening of the Eyes”, based on the “Threefold Secret Teaching”, written by our High Priest.

Are the commas needed? If not, why not?

I would use them. In recent decades, commas have been used less and less often, but I believe that one must judge whether or not they are useful for clarity and separating clauses.
