@Real Music,

Rod Temperton
Quote:
Rodney Lynn "Rod" Temperton (9 October 1949 – September/October 2016) was an English songwriter, record producer and musician. He initially made his mark as the keyboardist and main songwriter for the 1970s R&B, funk and disco band Heatwave, whose hit songs included "Boogie Nights" and "Always and Forever".

After being recruited by producer Quincy Jones, he wrote several internationally known songs performed by Michael Jackson, including "Thriller", "Off the Wall" and "Rock with You". He also wrote George Benson's hits "Give Me the Night" and "Love X Love", and Patti Austin and James Ingram's US number one duet "Baby, Come to Me", among many others.

Temperton wrote the soundtrack for Running Scared (1986 film).

Temperton won a Grammy Award in 1991 for his work on "Birdland", from Quincy Jones's album Back on the Block.

Nile Rodgers
Quote:
Nile Gregory Rodgers Jr. (born September 19, 1952) is an American record producer, songwriter, musician, composer, arranger and guitarist. He is the lead guitarist and co-founding member with Bernard Edwards of the band Chic, which has been active since 1976 and was one of the most successful groups of the disco era. He is famed for his "chucking" rhythm guitar style.

Although he recorded three solo albums during the 1980s and 1990s, and one as part of the short-lived group Outloud, Rodgers has found more success in collaboration as producer and performer with many artists including Sister Sledge, Diana Ross, Philip Bailey, Thompson Twins, Sheena Easton, David Bowie, Bryan Ferry, Duran Duran, Madonna, INXS, Britney Spears, Spoons, and more recently, Daft Punk, Pharrell Williams, Avicii, Disclosure, Sam Smith, Pitbull, Lady Gaga, Kylie Minogue, Max Pezzali, Nervo, Laura Mvula, Sigala, Keith Urban, Christina Aguilera and George Michael. On April 7, 2017, Rodgers was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and received an Award for Musical Excellence. He was appointed chairman of the Songwriters Hall of Fame in July, 2018

Smokey (William) Robinson wrote a number of songs, but "My Girl, " "Ain't That Peculiar" and "You've Really Got A Hold on Me" are his best.
