Here's some lyrics to an oldies song - I'm thinking 50's or 60's. I swear it exists, but when I went through the humiliation of singing it to the DJ at the local oldies station, he said he hadn't heard it.... Please help!
I can only remember parts...
"you got me rockin' when I should have been rollin
Ah ha ha ha
heeeey ayo
koobay koobay koobay koobay
ah ha ha ha"
etc.
Any ideas?
Don't you just know it by Huey Piano Smith
There's a story about Huey Smith - He was not much in the vocalizing department, but entertained dreams of being a big time singer. He recorded a song called Sea Cruise, expecting it to be distributed for sale. Then he went on vacation. When he came back he found that his voice had been lifted off the tape and that of Frankie Ford substituted. To my knowledge he did not get very far after that.
Thanks a ton.
I don't know how many strange looks and stunned silences I've gotten over the years, singing the part I knew, trying to see if anyone else has heard that song.
Should have found this board some time ago.
Don't Ya Just Know It

All girls do is done by you girl
Don't ya just know it
Baby, don't believe I wear two left shoes
Don't ya just know it

Doo bah doo bah doo bah doo bah
Ah ha ha ha
Ah ha ha ha

Hey pretty baby can we go strollin'
Don't ya just know it
Ya got me rockin' when I oughta be rollin'
Don't ya just know it
-chorus-
Ah ha ha ha
Ay ay oh
Doo bah doo bah doo bah doo bah
Ah ha ha ha
Ah ha ha ha
Ay ay oh
Baby baby you're my blue heaven
Don't ya just know it
Ya got me pushin' when I oughta be shovin'
Don't ya just know it
-chorus-
Ah ha ha ha
Ay ay oh
Doo bah doo bah doo bah doo bah
Ah ha ha ha

Young girls in trouble the tighter they squeeze
Don't ya just know it
-chorus-
Ah ha ha ha
Ay ay oh
Doo bah doo bah doo bah doo bah
Ah ha ha ha
Ah ha ha ha
Ay ay oh
repeat chorus
Glad to be of help. And, welcome to A2K.
Hate to quibble my dear friend Edgar, but Huey did quite well for himself as compared to Frankie. He put out Rockin Pneumonia(Boogie Woogie Flu) and is still collecting residuals from Johnny Rivers's version.
