This book is designed to help you solve some of your difficulties with the English language. It's aims are

(1) to examine those aspects of grammar which are ocomma ften used incorrectly.

(2) to improve your spoken and written English, so that you can be clearly understood.

Should there be a colon after "are" in bold?

Thanks.

Leaving aside the rather obvious error in the first dependent clause, the answer is yes, one should use a colon. Is that perhaps what you meant to write for the thread title?

Thanks, Setanta, for your reply. It was typo. I meant "colon".

What's the error in the first dependent clause? Please let me know. Thanks.

I made one typo. It should be its, not it's.

It's hard to make sense of this. Perhaps it should read: . . . to examine those aspects of grammar which are often used incorrectly. I see no reason for the word comma to appear in that clause.

I'm sorry, Setanta

It's typos caused by using my smartphone to submit my thread. I should have double-checked.

The following is the correct text, and it's exactly what you have written.

to examine those aspects of grammar which are often used incorrectly.
