When looking into the background of a potential friend - I would look into which groups they belonged to. Why has this feature "groups" disappeared from the "more" tab?

@raisrael,
This is Facebook, yes?

Facebook is the biggest A/B tester on the planet. That is, they are constantly (and I mean 24/7) testing different layouts, to see which one will make you click on more ads. That's all it is.

This doesn't seem awfully creepy to anyone else?

Yes. A tad creepy.

@tsarstepan,

perhaps it was a friend request that the OP received... not creepy at all...

It may not be REALLY REALLY creepy. But it still is a morsel or a smidgen or a scintilla of creepy....

@Region Philbis,
If I am going to accept a Facebook friend request, either I know them in real life or they have very nice cleavage. In either case digging into their background seems inappropriate and unnecessary.

The phrase I used for doing background checks on potential friends was "awfully creepy". I stand by that phrase.

@maxdancona,

some people don't mind adding friends that they've never met... <shrug>

and "looking into the background" of someone is hardly a background check... for that
you would have to hire a PI, or go to one of those expensive "search records" pages...

@Region Philbis,
I am presently paying good money to have such checks done on you. We have already been able to establish that Region Philbis is a fake identity. God knows what else is going to turn up as my people dig deeper.

and what's creepy about it is there's more than one... a team of investigators... <shudder>

@Region Philbis,
They haven't had work since Hawaii and the birth cert gig. You want their kids to starve, bub?

@Region Philbis,
Sure. Be flippant. But these guys aren't just experienced in the dark arts, they are also, everyone of them, on the ketogenic diet and you know what that means.

@raisrael,
As I posed the question - I shall reply. I am disappointed in those who decided not to answer the question but instead decide that looking into the background of someone who wishes to friend me is creepy. I have close to 5,000 "friends." I do not know all of them. I occasionally get requests from people who I do not know and who, I can see by the public info on FB, seem to be fishing. Looking at mutual friends, and groups to which they belong, can be helpful in making that distinction. So, in short, to most everyone who responded here- I still ask the same question. Has the category "groups" disappeared from the "more" tab? If so, why? And how can it be that there is seemingly no mention of this anywhere?
