@glitterbag,
Yeah. When I was in the Army, back when the earth was much younger, we said 'gravy grabber'. Not quite the same meaning, though.

@roger,
Maybe, maybe not. The soldiers I worked with many moons ago had many colorful expressions, do you remember 'the Hans Brinker'? OK, hans brinker wasn't colorful, the colorful things I can't repeat.....

Don't remember that one; probably never heard of it. I do claim charter membership in the Fun, Travel, Adventure club.

Hans Brinker "Skate".....guys who manage to disappear and avoid tasks? I say guys, but only because back then the only Army women were nurses or clerks.

@glitterbag,
Having gone through meanings of your recommended words, the word or rather the phrase "Glory Grabber" will go best into my contextualization as in the sense of https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=glory+grabber

Thank you and God Bless.

@iandu76,
Is glory grabber in the urban dictionary? I know there are even better phrases to characterize that slimy maneuver, I just can’t think of it now....but I’m glad our substitions worked for you.
