@Setanta,
there was a LOT of that at the Canada Day parade in our part of the city today
it was freaking wonderful
stinking hot and cops and kids with super shooters going after the crowd - brilliant! if nothing else, Pride made Toronto famous for police and super-soakers
the best was the group hiding inside an accessible bus - every time the parade stopped at the reviewing stand (about a block away) - the side ramp door opened and the water blasting started
one officer seemed to be on permanent refill duty

female police on Dutch warmblood horses - that was a beautiful thing
__
after the less than pleasant reception for him last year when he crashed our parade - and his party coming in third in our riding in last month's provincial election - the new premier was smart and stayed away - booorahhhh!

Falun Gong and Falun Dafa was back this year with a huge presence.
The Shriners are super-stars in the community and much loved by parade-goers. Some of those gents are getting pretty old.
The very interesting rainbow cake mini-float we saw last night inside the doors of the Baptist church was part of the neighbourhood 'everyone belongs' group. So wonderful.
Felt bad for the Star Wars comicon group. They had to be steenking hot inside those elaborate costumes.
Yay! Canada Day!
