Research Before Buying!

Well that didn’t take long. I made sure I moved the old fridge out to clean under it so I didn’t die of embarrassment.

At the other end of the scale I bought a lovely little camping fridge for a fiver at a car boot sale. It fits under the table and keeps the drinks nice and cool.

I'm not sure what a fiver is but now I can get rid of the portable ice maker on the counter, I had to buy it when the fridge stopped making ice. Maybe I can get a fiver or a couple quid for it

Actually strictly speaking fivers and tenners are bank notes.

A fiver is also known as a bluey, because it's blue and a sky diver,
which is rhyming slang.

It's very cheap, at the current exchange rate that's US$6.58.

And now I know, I don't think I've ever heard them called a fiver or tenner I just thought it was some kind of strange quid money

We're all decimel now, prior to that there was all sorts of weird amounts.

In Tudor England there was ahuge amount of different coins, pennies farthings, shillings florins, crowns, sovereigns, guineas.

All had their own exchange rate with each other, all designed to trick the innocent traveller. It was later simplified to pounds shillings and pence, but the coins kept the same names as before, so it wasn't simplified much.
