In general, I agree categorically. I will state the I'm no fan of Aguilera; however, this song and the way she sings it...is a departure. I was shocked while l I listened to this song with an open mind.
Almost all of the current generation are shriekers and add histrionics willy-nilly (Kelly Clarkson, as an example), destroying the meaning and feeling of the lyrics of a song. Wailing an yelling because they either the have no talent or no taste.
{Edit: Opions will vary, of course. I fell that it is hard to be objective when you hear Etta sing and are of a 'certain' age. Perhaps don't watch her in the video. There's great distraction with all of the wiggling around she does - skewing a fair judging.}
