@awadtaslim,
How close of a friend are you? Business friend? Neighbor you hardly ever see? BFF? Is wine a passion she or he obsesses about? Are we talking 99 cent bargain store or thrift shop wine glasses or something more pricier and classier?

We don't know anything about this "friend" and can't answer this one for you.

Recycling unwanted presents is always a great idea.

A set of six is the cutting edge of a traditional Greek celebration.

If there are any left over, turn them upside down to make a decorative coffee table feature.

Even if the meal is only for one person. Fill all six glasses with wine. Drink all six glasses. Refill as many times as necessary.

Don't buy glass as a gift if you have to ship it.

that's pretty much how it is in my life

people give me wine glasses and I pack them up and give them to someone else (in a different social circle) - if I live to 100 I'll still be flipping wine glasses as gifts

@awadtaslim,
Well, I would make sure the person in question isn't a recovering alcoholic.

@awadtaslim,
That’s a good idea. Who doesn’t wish to have an expensive wine glass? He/she can make use of that anytime and will be an ideal gift. Go ahead and order some stylish wine glasses. Your friend will surely love it. You will get a variety of options online and probably get great discounts as well.

me

I find it really annoying when people give me more of something I don't want and already have too much of

Or don't need. I mean... how many wine glasses does a household need? What if the household is a lot of teetotalers as well?

@awadtaslim,
Skip the glasses, focus on a unique bottle of wine. Or two, if you want them to share.
