"This is one of the rare cases…where the accused person has gone on to repeat the very same offence with the same girl, having the same result.

“It pains this court to sentence you again, when I gave you a chance before."

If the part in bold correct? Or should it be "a second chance before."?

Bolded part is correct - unless he had more than one chance previously.
