i was wondering if there is a way to fake the location of an I.P address ,because i got an email from a person saying they r from a different country and the I.P matches the country the person mentioned.what is weird the person knows lots about me (personal information) ,and i was wondering if it was a person i know playing a joke on me.thanks
Sounds like they found an open mail relay.
Are you talking about the domain name (the part after the @ sign in an E-mail address) or the actual IP address (looking at the header on the mail message, something like 192.168.254.3)?
the actual I.P ,I have my hotmail header turned on where i see the whole thing.
I forgot to mention its not a fake mailer ,and the person email is from yahoo
could it be possible to fake the I.P address in the header of an email from another email that really exists.
Well you could try to find an open relay - an email server that forwards all mail.
As for the actual email address, you can fake it *very* easy.
