Ella Fitzgerald
Jose Feliciano
Earl "Fatha" Hines
Tony Bennet
Oh, I forgot Leonard Bernstein and the NY Philharmonic.
And I saw Steve Martin, too. I can't remember what year it was, but it was mid-70's. I laughed so hard I was sick.
NICK CAVE AND THE BAD SEEDS. I thought the theater was going to collapse ;-)
Ive seen live
Westlife and
Christina Aguliera the coolest female on earth.
Sarah McLaughin - amazing voice.
just for the show
Ray Charles
Chuck Mangione doing the"Land of Make believe"
Bob James
The Grateful Dead - it was all about live
Elton John
Elvis Costello
The B-52's
Vanhalen
Ted Nugent
Lyle Lovett and his Large Band
Blue Oyster Cult
Not necessarily in that order.
I've seen a lot of live acts. When asked this question I have one that pops to the front of my mind... Billy Joel.
Bear and I saw him in Greensboro end of 1989. Superb showman that outshines them all!
Cool, LionTamer got to see the Buzzcocks! That must have been grand.
Best live performances ... I'm gonna miss half of 'em ... what jumps to mind is:
Mano Negra
Iva Bittova
Ice-T
Daisy Chainsaw
Cassandra Complex
Uz Jsme Doma
Southern Culture on the Skids
The Sugarcubes
De Boegies
Cheb Mami
Gotcha!
And looking some others up, also great were:
Fishbone
The Chills
Billy Childish
Palinckx-4
Underworld
Kampec Dolores
Gary Lucas
Dunaj
Real Sounds
Les Negresses Vertes
Kong
I like the song "Camel Walk" by Souther Culture on the Skids, Nimh. It reminds me of my very first apartment in college. Don't ask...it's one of those long stories....
SO many great artists I've seen live, but not so many in recent years as fewer and fewer of "my generation" acts (60s and 70s rock) tour, but among the very, very best would be:
1. Rolling Stones, 1999;
2. The Police, 1983;
3. Neil Young, 1983;
4. Bob Dylan, 1991, 2001 & 2004;
5. Crosby, Stills & Nash, 2004;
6. Jethro Tull, 1972;
7. Rod Stewart & the Faces, 1972; and
8. Joe Walsh & Barnstorm, 1972.
Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention
Leon Russell and Billy Preston
Devo
I chose those three for their sound and vision combination. Cool visuals without having that big production gimmicky deal happening and fun good music. If I was to pick just for the music it would be a tie between Ray Charles and Koko Taylor.
Probably the most eye popping, mouth shutting live show I've seen though is the Cirque de Soliel.
Frank Sinatra
Simon and Garfunkel
Judy Collins
Fonteyne and Nureyev
I'm sure I'll remember more.
The Moody Blues played here in Vancouver some years back. I'm a long time fan and loved their performance. They were excellent and timeless.
Roy Acuff-around 1968-or 69-I will always remember his yo-yo tricks. I was 7 or 8.
The Stoneman Family-1970 or 71(Bluegrass)
Barbara Fairchild-1970 or 71
The Statler Brothers-mid 70's
Tom T. Hall-70's
Johnny Rodriguez x2-mid 70's
Donna Fargo-70's (Very nice lady)
Loretta Lynn-70's-another terrific person
Sonny James-70's-a real showman
Dolly Parton-mid to late 70's
MAc Davis-same show-WOW!
Johnny Cash-late 70's -another wow
Charlie Pride-1979
Slim Whitman-1980-a showcase program with:
Earnest Tubb(he was on oxygen!)
The Wilburn Brothers
Michael Martin Murphy-March 1980-terrific show
Oak Ridge Boys-1981
Rick Roberts 1983
Elvis Costello & REM - both performances observed from seats very close to the stage. I'm sure being able to clearly see, as well as hear, made both performances very memorable ones.
I'd like to see these two live;Loretta Lynn and Jack from The White Stripes
2. PORTLAND OREGON (DUET WITH JACK WHITE)
If Loretta can remember the lyrics....
Anyone mentioned Junior Brown yet? That man can play !
I live close to where Southern Culture on the Skids lives so I get to see them fairly often. A great live band for sure.
BTW, the Buzzcocks still do reunion tours from time to time and are as amazing as ever.

Heh - I once went to a 999 reunion tour concert - was kinda funny! Those potbellied, balding guys on stage kinda pogoing ... not much pogoing going on in the audience meanwhile cause at 24 or something I think I was the youngest there ... all 30-year-old ex-punks! Heh
