Too many people moan, bitch, lament ... that film critics are the worst. They're not relevant. They're not the boss of me and no one can tell me that Michael Bay's Transformers isn't the greatest thing in the history of things!*
I say... HOGWASH! Film critics have their raison d'etre ... beyond telling the world which movies to see and which movies to out and out avoid.
Like most things? Take a film review and/or film essay with a grain of salt. Proper film context and perspective can be a good thing in terms of understanding films as a medium for storytelling. You don't have to agree with everything a film critic says in a given review. Heck? You can completely tear down a critic's entire sentiment if you have/hold the subjective reasons and emotions that make up your view of a given movie.
So? Who are your favorite film critics? Film historians? Vloggers? Are there any examples you can share here?
*That's an out and out lie. The Transformers movies may not be the absolute worst of their medium but they stink greater than a 100000 rotten corpses being catapulted by Ghengis Khan's advancing troops into a sieged city.
