Hi. I'm Lio, from S. Korea, studying English.
Let me show you a sentence which seems to have some grammatical errors.
[ In spite of the incident, the performance was successful anyway.
But since then, whenever I chew a gum,
I recall that day, that moment, and that embarrassed feeling. ]
Well, this is what one of my buddies wrote,
and we talked about whether these sentences sound natural or not.
After some discussion, we rewrote.
[ In spite of the incident, the performance was successful anyway.
But since then, whenever I chew a gum,
I HAVE RECALLED that day, that moment, and that EMBARRASSING
feeling. ]
I am afraid the rewritten one is not any better than the first one.
If there is anything, of course there is, which looks so unnatural
that you can barely stand, please let me know.
It would be a great help.
Thank you.
@SMickey,
In spite of the incident, the performance was successful
anyway.
But since then, whenever I chew a gum, I recall that day, that moment, and that embarrassed feeling.
I like the sound of the first one, but once you say 'In spite of', the word 'anyway' becomes superfluous.
@SMickey,

You've been here for four and a half-ish years. You feel the need to reintroduce yourself now? I think we get the gist that you're studying English... as that's the only activity I've seen you do here. That's fine on your part. We know that's your thing.
@tsarstepan,
Four years and a half already? I didn't know that.
Thank you for the interest you showed, Tsarstepan.
I'm so grateful for the fact that I get much help from sweet-hearted and kind native speakers like you.
Yeah, I'm a S. Korean and I love studying English.
Though I don't have to learn the language anymore cuz I graduated from school long time ago, and I barely have any chance to speak the world's most widely used language, I find it very amusing to learn it.
I wish I could stick around here, making friends with people and keep learning.
