The 80's were a strange time for me. I was either circling the drain, fallen into the abyss, or climbing my way back out. Each of which came with it's own weirdness.
Plus, the hair.
My children were born in 1983, 1985 and 1988.
I missed the whole damn decade.
The 80s will always be a dark decade for me, because even though I was alive, I wasn't aware of the events happening in the world. The gulf war was the first international event I followed.
I love period dramas like Halt and Catch Fire and The Americans, as much as I'd like a drama from any earlier period, because even though I lived through that time, the events taking place are new to me.
@Kolyo,
Oh! The Americans! So well done. I’ve been waiting on the next season to show up on Amazon.

That's when the Mets won the World Series. A very happy memory.
I probably held on to 80s style a coupla decades too long.
Loved big hair, big shoulders on my blazers, and short skirts.
(Still... have my favorite blazer, but, alas, lost the nerve to wear it)
@firefly,

It was a tough go for me. Being a full blooded Yankees fan, I couldn't root for The Red Sox, but I never liked the Mets either. It was the only time I've been unable to get behind at least one team in the World Series.
