Is 'sermon' correctly used?

I saw the following title on the page of a Buddhist magazine.
SERMON BY HIGH PRIEST NIKKEN SHONIN

Is 'sermon' correctly used? Isn't it only used in the context of Christianity? In other words, a sermon is delivered by a Catholic Priest or a Protestant pastor; a Buddhist priest delivers a lecture.

Am I correct?

Thanks.

For many people 'sermon' just means a religious speech, although some dictionaries persist in restricting the meaning to a Christian context. You will widely see the term used for speeches and discourses given by Jewish, Buddhist, Muslim, Hindu, and other non-Christian figures. Jesus (who was not a Christian minister) gave the Sermon on the Mount. In the Buddha’s first sermon at Deer Park, he taught the Four Noble Truths by addressing the existence of suffering, its cause, and its end.
