Great! Just GREAT!

Bear woke me up at 3 AM when he got home and told me our van had broken down. All of his equipment is still at the club. No vehicle, he had to have someone bring him home.

I so fretted over this that by the time I got back to sleep I was so tired I missed the alarm. Kids now don't have a way to school.

Dang it! And, it's still early! None of this would have happened had I not known this was to be the worst day of the year!

it's a little beyond broken down...I opened the side door of the van and it fell onto the f*#king ground..... Evil or Very Mad

Squinney, you should live up here in New England. Then you wouldn't have to worry about sending kids to school today. I haven't set foot outdoors since Friday night.

I've survived the first month of winter. I'm making no promises about the next two months, but I do have a wee bit of hope that I'll stay the course.

So far ....so good.

The usual problems that seem to make it to my desk...have. Solving them has actually been easier than most Mondays.

I've only heard one co-worker say she was feelin' grumpy today. But I've been too busy to venture out of my office to know for sure.

Now.....as long as my drive home goes ok.

Not too worried.

Song: What Do The Simple Folk Do? Lyrics
From Camelot, sung on Broadway by Richard Burton and Julie Andrews

GUINEVERE
What do the simple folk do
To help them escape when they're blue?
The shepherd who is ailing, the milkmaid who is glum,
The cobbler who is wailing from nailing his thumb?
When they're beset and besieged
The folk not noblessly obliged --
However do they manage to shed their weary lot?
Oh, what do simple folk do...we do not?

ARTHUR
I have been informed by those who know them well,
They find relief in quite a clever way.
When they're sorely pressed, they whistle for a spell
And whistling seems to brighten up their day.
And that's what simple folk do.
So they say.

GUINEVERE
They whistle?

ARTHUR
So they say.

(They whistle for awhile.)

GUINEVERE
What else do the simple folk do
To pluck up their heart and get through?
The wee folk and the grown folk
Who wander to and fro
Have ways known to their own folk
We throne folk don't know.
When all the doldrums begin,
What keeps each of them in his skin?
What ancient native custom provides the needed glow?
Oh, what do simple folk do...
Do you know?

ARTHUR
Once, upon the road, I came upon a lad
Singing in a voice three times his size.
When I asked him why, he told me he was sad,
And singing always made his spirits rise.
And that's what simple folk do.
I surmise.

GUINEVERE
They sing?

ARTHUR
I surmise.

BOTH
Arise, my love, arise, my love!
Apollo's lighting the skies, my love!
The meadows shine with columbine
And daffodils blossom away!
Hear Venus call to one and all
And taste delight while you may!
The world is bright and all is right
And life is merry and gay...

GUINEVERE
What else do the simple folk do?
They must have a system or two!
They obviously outshine us at turning tears to mirth...
Have tricks a royal highness is minus from birth.
What, then, I wonder, do they
To chase all the goblins away?
They have some tribal sorcery you haven't mentioned yet.
Oh, what do simple folk do...to forget?

ARTHUR
Often, I am told, they dance a fiery dance
And whirl 'till they're completely uncontrolled.
Soon the mind is blank and oh, they're in a trance --
A violent trance astounding to behold.
And that's what simple folk do.
So I'm told.

GUINEVERE
They dance?

ARTHUR
So I'm told.

(They dance.)

GUINEVERE
What ELSE do the simple folk do
To help them escape when they're blue?

ARTHUR
They sit around and wonder what royal folk would do.
And that's what simple folk do.

GUINEVERE
(spoken)
Oh no, really?

ARTHUR
I have it on the best authority.

BOTH
(sung)
Yes, that's what simple folk do.

Well, I survived the night! Wasn't easy since my husband lost his credit card on Sunday, we lost the new kitten in a new neighborhood. But, the credit card was replaced by bank by 9:30, the kitten scratched at the door early this a.m. and we live in a warm climate, otherwise poor kitty. Monday is great, even the sun is shining and its 69 degrees.

Ok, I'm jealous. It's cold here. Chill factor has been below zero for a few days.

Glad you are having a great Monday, sunlover! Smile

Yesterday was a much better day for me than today.

Today.....I just wanna be like a little girl that crawls up on someones lap with my nice warm blankey and goes to sleep surrounded by a hug all day.
