That's what I was thinking: they're going to have beautiful children Razz

When is the wedding? So we all can make our travel plans ahead
of time.

Within a year is all I know. We have to figure out WHERE to get married - i.e. do we need to do it in the U.S. for papers? I don't have a green card, so I don't think so. I think India will do, and that would probably be next summer or so. Though that's the rainy season... who knows. His parents need to be informed first, all else will flow from there.

My father is trying to estimate my price in camels right now so that he know how much dowry to offer to wed me off. Any guesses?

You're a fine woman, dag, but I'm not sure any woman is worth a camel.

Nor any man, neither.

Never mind the camels, you don't have a green card? Only a student visa?
Oh, that will be tough for both of you to live in the US. Could he claim
political asylum? Can you? Otherwise, there is only adoption left.

patiodog, you're up for adopting two "kids"?

well, i'll aply for H1 visa soon (ish), and when I do, I can simultaneously apply for a green card - but i won't have it before 2 years from now. it's ok, i have student visa, he'll have student visa, we don't want to stay in the u.s. permanently anyways.

be prepared to possibly have things happen very swiftly.

a good friend of mine married a fellow from India about 2 years ago. when they told his family about the engagement, his sister consulted a priest, who gave them two dates within the following month which were auspicious - the next auspicious date was over 2 years later. they were married within 2 weeks to beat the deadline.

(they now have the most beautiful baby I've ever seen - 1/2 Ukrainian, 1/2 Goan - that is a very auspicious protocol for Dag and Mr. B29)

the woman next to me at work is in a similar situation. only 3 time periods are auspicious for her and her fiance for next year.

if they organize it and pay for my flight ticket, i really don't care much when it happens. but they want to invite 600 people, so i presume that will take some time to plan. it's a small wedding, you see. just the closest family and friends...

The good thing about Indian men is that they still tuck their shirts Smile

This is all such an adventure!

So, but, but - did you meet him this time? Or did you know him already from your previous visit? Youve GOT to still tell us more..

I've met him this time. I now know him for almost 6 weeks... Rolling Eyes

I know. It would sound crazy to me, too. But it somehow feels normal. Anyway, as a distraction, here's the beginning of the
Golkonda Fort Light and Sound Show. It was very neat, but the little digital camera wasn't able to get the light action.
