Hi, I've got a film that I've been enjoying watching : Match Point.
Two guys are having a chat about a lady.
One of them, A, is her fiance.
A : She's quite something, isn't she?
B : How long have you been together?
A : Six months. Jesus, yeah, six months!
She came over to study acting, and I met her at a party
that I'd crashed and she'd crashed, and...
one thing led to another.
Obviously, it's taken Mother quite a long time to get used to the idea
that I'm serious about her.
Now, the unclear part is the word 'crashed'.
My guess from the context was that 'crashed' probably means 'drunk'.
A seems to have said that they were both heavily drunk
and they somehow had sex.
To make sure that my guess was right, I looked up some dictionaries in vain.
https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/crash
https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=crashed
http://www.dictionary.com/browse/crashed
The part which proves that 'crashed' means 'drunk' is nowhere to be found.
What on earth is 'crashed' supposed to mean then?
I'd appreciate your comment. Thanks.
