I've just bought a cd The Art of Amalia, with the best of Amalia Rodrigues, the great fado singer. Fado are Portugal's hidden treasure, songs of love, sadness and longing. Amalia may take you to a warm, rose-scented, starlit night, on a balcony overlooking the sea; a night of magic and memories, secrets and sensual promise.
Her voice is incredibly expressive: rich, serene, pure, tender, spirited, poetic, mysterious and aching with feeling. The songs have such romantic depth and melancholic beauty they will caress you like silk, bathe you like moonlight and pierce you like lightning.
If an animal, a unicorn; a building, the Taj Mahal.
Nothing, nothing can touch it.
Thanks for the tip kenji, and welcome to A2K
That was quick! I know i've tried to go all poetic but i really thought the music deserved something special. In fact it's too wonderful for words; i doubt if Shakespeare himself could have done it justice.
Let's not get too carried away...lol
I'll be checking it out
O.k. Well let's just say i'm 43 and it's been a very very long time since any music had such an impact on me. My wife also thinks it's sublime. And even my dog, who's never shown any interest in music before, was sniffing round the cd player for ages. Not that i want to get your expectations up too high or anything! Maybe just something that suits our little family down to the ground.
I share your joy. Rare that we can get so much joy from a recording...
