Hi,
What does "band" mean?
Can 'could' be replaced with 'can'?
"We asked the security guards if we could go backstage to meet the band"

A band in this context is a group of musicians, probably a rock band. Since it happened in the past, you must use 'could', the past tense of 'can'.

So you know what a "stage" is in this contex? ( musicians, show?)

"Back stage" is what's behind the stage: dressing rooms, rooms in the back of the theater stage, etc.

@PUNKEY,
Thanks a lot.
"Stage " is the scence, right?
And also what is 'security guard'? it means 'police'?

Scence is not an English word. In French, sur scène means 'on the stage'; maybe you are thinking of that.

A security guard is not a police officer.
