The lorry driver can also be seen scolding the taxi driver but the cabbie refuses to alight from his taxi. Instead, he backs into the lorry repeatedly, infuriating the lorry driver further.

Is alight from used correctly?

In general, a passenger 'alights' from a vehicle or train when their journey is complete. It involves stepping down. These days taxis are low from the ground and no descent is necessary.
