I have an American flag that do not know where it comes from or what it stands for can someone help me, It has the red and white stripes and a Eagle is to the left with 35 stars ran in a half moon shape left-hand side of the eagle under the eagle says USA

35 stars dates from 1863 (see: http://www.usflag.org/history/the35starflag.html) and because it's just before the Civil War that might mean something.

It'll help to know where you bought it from and what it's made of. E. g. if it's polyester, then it's obviously a recent copy. Linen or other cloth might be a lot closer to authentic.
