I've heard 'buster' applied as a nickname, but not recently and not often. I don't know, but suspect it's the same as using 'bubba' as a nickname. I have never, ever heard someone say something like "You are a buster".

A buster is someone who breaks up fights, such as myself. Well, not now, but in my early years I was an accomplished buster.

@iandu76,
When someone is being annoyed (bothered, irritated) by another person and the person won't stop, the person being annoyed might say, "You better watch it buster!" as a way of indicating they have had enough aggravation.

@Region Philbis,
Please explain "little punk bitch". I rarely leave the confines of my domicile and seldom do I interact with the populace. My current foray into the hostile environs of the interweb has subjected me to many unfamiliar colloquialisms and I beseech thy definition. (Sorry about the last three words, but I am currently reading A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court.

@Cletus Cook,
I wish everybody spoke like this. I think the world would be a better place.

@centrox,
I first heard of it when studying on "onelookdictionary.com" and later on "Arthur TV Movie Show" where a character is called "buster".

@iandu76,
I've also heard it used for say a little kid (usually a boy) in place of a name - kind of in a fun, playful but still friendly way.

Hey you little buster come on over here and give grandpa a hug.

English is confusing, huh, you can have the same word and use it so many different ways depending on the circumstance.

On the show - Buster would be a nickname I would think - it would be helpful if we had a sentence or two around the word.

Buster is the proper name of a character in the PBD children's TV show, "Arthur". He is not 'a' buster, he is called Buster.
