Sorry if this topic has already been made, but I just joined today and didn't check previous topics.
What are some lyrics that are so bad that they are funny?
CAT SCRATCH FEVER
Ted Nugent
Well I don't know where they come from
But they sure do come
I hope they comin' for me
And I don't know how they do it
But they sure do it good
I hope they doin' it for free
They give me cat scratch fever
Cat scratch fever
The first time that I got it
I was just ten years old
I got it from some kitty next foor
I went and see the Dr. and
He gave me the cure
I think I got it some more
They give me cat scratch fever
Cat scratch fever
It's nothin dangerous
I feel no pain
I've got to ch-ch-change
You know you got it when you're going insane
It makes a grown man cryin' cryin'
Won't you make my bed
I make the pussy purr with
The stroke of my hand
They know they gettin' it from me
They know just where to go
When they need their lovin man
They know I do it for free
They give me cat scratch fever
Cat scratch fever
See the tree how big its grown
But friend it hasn't been too long
It wasn't big
And the rest of the really crappy lyrics to
"Honey" by Bobby Goldboro
I've been to the desert on a horse with no name
It felt good to be out of the rain
In the desert they can't remember your name
For there ain't no one for to give you no pain
"Horse with no name"
Do you know what "Horse with no name" is about?
Gosh. I've never thought about it.
Maybe doing heroin?
"Horse" was kind of a give away when you start thinking about it.
My nomination for stupidest lyrics by otherwise great songwriters:
Wish I was a Kellogg's Cornflake
Floatin' in my bowl takin' movies,
Relaxin' awhile, livin' in style,
Talkin' to a raisin who 'casion'ly plays L.A.,
Casually glancing at his toupee.
Wish I was an English muffin
'Bout to make the most out of a toaster.
I'd ease myself down,
Comin' up brown.
I prefer boysenberry
More than any ordinary jam.
I'm a "Citizens for Boysenberry Jam" fan.
Ah, South California.
If I become a first lieutenant
Would you put my photo on your piano?
To Maryjane--
Best wishes, Martin.
(Old Roger draft-dodger
Leavin' by the basement door),
Everybody knows what he's
Tippy-toeing down there for
Simon and Garfunkle what were you thinking!?
Okay okay just one more and I'll stop.
Muskrat Susie, Muskrat Sam
Do the jitterbug down in muskrat land
And they shimmy
Sammy's so skinny
Muskrat Love
Dumbest lyrics:
I would walk 500 miles
And i would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walked
A thousand miles to fall down at your door
Well, not all lyrics are meant to be taken literally. I suspect that was going on with the Simon & Garfunkle song. It's fun as a series of images, that may tie together.
Or not...
I mean, some of Dylan's lyrics are a bit opaque, too, no?
What does this mean?? What a dumb song.
We Built This City
Say you don't know me or recognize my face
Say you don't care who goes to that kind of place
Knee deep in the hoopla sinking in your fight
Too many runaways eating up the night
Marconi plays the mamba, listen to the radio, don't you remember
We built this city, we built this city on rock and roll
Chorus:
We built this city, we built this city on rock and roll
Built this city, we built this city on rock and roll
Someone always playing corporation games
Who cares they're always changing corporation names
We just want to dance here someone stole the stage
They call us irresponsible write us off the page
Marconi plays the mamba, listen to the radio, don't you remember
We built this city, we built this city on rock and roll
We built this city, we built this city on rock and roll
Built this city, we built this city on rock and roll
It's just another sunday, in a tired old street
Police have got the choke hold, oh then we just lost the beat
Who counts the money underneath the bar
Who rides the wrecking ball in two rock guitars
Don't tell us you need us, 'cos we're the ship of fools
Looking for america, coming through your schools
(I'm looking out over that golden gate bridge
Out on another gorgeous sunny saturday, not seein' that bumper to bumper traffic)
Don't you remember ('member)('member)
(what's your favorite radio station, in your favorite radio city
The city by the bay, the city that rocks, the city that never sleeps)
Marconi plays the mamba, listen to the radio, don't you remember
We built this city, we built this city on rock and roll
We built this city, we built this city on rock and roll
Built this city, we built this city on rock and roll
Built this city, we built this city on rock and roll
Built this city, we built this city on rock and roll
(we built, we built this city) built this city (we built, we built this city)
Ok, I LOVE this song but the lyrics don't make sense....any help??
Whiter Shade of Pale
We skipped the light fandango
Turned cartwheels 'cross the floor
I was feeling kinda seasick
But the crowd called out for more
The room was humming harder
As the ceiling flew away
When we called out for another drink
The waiter brought a tray
And so it was that later
As the miller told his tale
That her face, at first just ghostly,
Turned a whiter shade of pale
She said, 'there is no reason
And the truth is plain to see.'
But I wandered through my playing cards
And would not let her be
One of sixteen vestal virgins
Who were leaving for the coast
And although my eyes were open
They might have just as well've been closed
She said, 'I'm home on shore leave,'
Though in truth we were at sea
So I took her by the looking glass
And forced her to agree
Saying, 'you must be the mermaid
Who took neptune for a ride.'
But she smiled at me so sadly
That my anger straightway died
If music be the food of love
Then laughter is it's queen
And likewise if behind is in front
Then dirt in truth is clean
My mouth by then like cardboard
Seemed to slip straight through my head
So we crash-dived straightway quickly
And attacked the ocean bed
ARTIST: Bruce Springsteen
TITLE: Blinded by the Light
Madmen drummers bummers and Indians in the summer
With a teenage diplomat
In the dumps with the mumps as the adolescent pumps
His way into his hat
With a boulder on my shoulder feelin' kinda older
I tripped the merry-go-round
With this very unpleasing sneezing and wheezing
The calliope crashed to the ground
Some all-hot half-shot was headin' for the hot spot
Snappin' his fingers, clappin' his hands
And some fleshpot mascot was tied into a lover's knot
With a whatnot in her hand
And now young Scott with a slingshot finally found a tender spot
And throws his lover in the sand
And some bloodshot forget-me-not whispers daddy's within earshot
Save the buckshot, turn up the band
{Refrain}
And she was blinded by the light
Cut loose like a deuce, another runner in the night
Blinded by the light
She got down but she never got tight
But she'll make it alright
Some brimstone baritone anticyclone rolling stone
Preacher from the east
He says, "Dethrone the dictaphone, hit it in its funny bone
That's where they expect it least"
And some new-mown chaperone was standin' in the corner all alone
Watchin' the young girls dance
And some fresh-sown moonstone was messin' with his frozen zone
To remind him of the feeling of romance
Yeah he was...
{Refrain}
Some silicone sister with her manager's mister
Told me I got what it takes
She said I'll turn you on sonny to something strong
If you play that song with the funky break
And go-cart Mozart was checkin' out the weather chart
To see if it was safe to go outside
And little Early-Pearly came in by her curly-wurly
And asked me if I needed a ride
Oh, some hazard from Harvard was skunked on beer
Playin' backyard bombardier
Yes and Scotland Yard was trying hard, they sent some dude with a calling card
He said, do what you like, but don't do it here
Well I jumped up, turned around, spit in the air, fell on the ground
Asked him which was the way back home
He said take a right at the light, keep going straight until night
And then boy you're on your own
And now in Zanzibar a shootin' star was ridin' in a side car
Hummin' a lunar tune
Yes, and the avatar said blow the bar but first remove the cookie jar
We're gonna teach those boys to laugh too soon
And some kidnapped handicap was complaining that he caught the clap
From some mousetrap he bought last night
Well I unsnapped his skull cap and between his ears I saw a gap
But I figured he'd be all right
He was just blinded by the light
Cut loose like a deuce, another runner in the night
Blinded by the light
Mama always told me not to look into the sights of the sun
Oh but mama that's where the fun is
....Someone left the cake out in the rain...
There's a song out right now where there's a line "Something about an ocean... I can feel it like a notion."
First off, it makes no sense, secondly it screams of poor rhyming. "Let's see, what rhymes with ocean?"
Oh, and then there's that song "I want to get away... I want to fly away." The first lines are something like, "I want to fly, so very high, up into the sky, just like a butterfly." Ugh!
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
Listen up everybody if you wanna take a chance.
(rap:) just get on the floor and do the new kids' dance.
Don't worry 'bout nothing 'cause it won't take long.
(rap:) we're gonna put you in a trance with a funky song, 'cause you gotta be
Hangin' tough, hangin' tough, hangin' tough.
(rap:) we're rough.
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
Everybody's always talkin' 'bout who's on top.
(rap:) don't cross our path 'cause you're gonna get stomped.
We ain't gonna give anybody any slack.
(rap:) and if you try to keep us down we're gonna come right back,
And you know we're
Hangin' tough, hangin' tough, hangin' tough.
(rap:) are you tough enough?
Hangin' tough, hangin' tough, hangin' tough.
(rap:) we're rough.
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
Get loose everybody 'cause we're gonna do our thing.
(rap:) 'cause you know it ain't over 'till the fat lady sings.
Hangin' tough, hangin' tough, hangin' tough.
(rap:) are you tough enough?
Hangin' tough, hangin' tough, hangin' tough.
(rap:) we're rough.
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, just hangin' tough, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, hangin' tough.
stupid lyrics.
Outkast - Roses:
I know you'd like to thank your **** don't stank
But lean a little bit closer
See that roses really smell like poo-oo-ooo
Yeah, roses really smell like poo-oo-ooo
Um... that song was meant to be funny. Have you seen the music video?
