Damn Bear! Excellent. I did a duo for a while and it was terrific.
Unfortunately the inbred that leads our band got snookered at our regular club...get this:We get $200 each but I have to buy a seat for my lady for $50...I mean you're talking to a guy that hasn't made less than a grand for the last ten NY's eves.
Talk about bribes...
I'm bummed.
damn you did get snookered..we're getting mad money for NYE and we're a ROCK band...nothing top 40 about us....I am djing the booty shaking **** between band sets though....part of our fee is that they pick up our food and bar tab...and we have a guestlist..that's in addition to our pay.....I negotiate all our contracts.....squinney is not coming...she never comes to my gigs.... so it's just a work night for me...but I will enjoy dancing on the bar in the old spandex while the ladies check the package....
photos will be appreciated...

Could you folks continue your communications another way, I would appreciate it.
huh? do you not like any swaying from your topic, maple leaf? The guys seem to be taking it off the topic as it is.
That is fairly rare here. On many a2k topics we actually like and sometimes cherish digressions.
Please be patient.
Re bribes, I haven't bribed or been bribed, myself, but I was in the car when a pal who lived in Mexico, the city, was stopped in his car with me and (damn, who was it m.f. or h.o.) and friend, Alfredo, slipped x peso bill just under his licence as he handed over his wallet. All was well and we drove on, in A's volkswagen, towards the center city.....
I guess I was an accessory. Picture me objecting....
Mapleleaf, pithy is way too charitable a word for your behaviour....
I also was asked to pay up while driving in Mexico.
Thing is, I did take a wrong turn and went down the
one-way-street the other way. It was a short street and
I thought no one would see me. Wrong!
The Mexican police stopped me in no time, and demanded
a fine of 40 Dollar. I would have paid, but I was shopping
and had no dime left, not even a dollar. I told them I had
no money and they started to intimidate me.
I must have had PMS or something because I got angry and
started yelling at them and demanded to speak to a friend
of mine, who happened to be honorable consul at that
time. I guess they knew the name, since they all of a sudden let me go with a verbal warning.
That was ca. 15 years ago. Today - so I've heard, the police has gotten even more corrupt and violent towards women.
Needless to say, I haven't been across the border in years.
Never been asked for a bribe.
I feel very fortunate about it, too, after hearing about so many countries (on other threads) where this is a mundane occurrence.
growing up in the middle east I quickly learned that you get NO where without Baksheesh.
Is that money, or the slut of the Middle East?
Um not sure but I think its the Turkish word for 'little present"
Fifteen years ago, I am laughing, though not entirely.
My time there, such as it was, was in the late sixties, early seventies, or slightly before that.
My time in mexico from 1966-73 was innocuous, by anyone's standards.
