What (recently) made you go, aahhhh ... (or, yeeaaahh ...) - this is true luxury?
A completely unexpected intangible expression of love.
I bought myself some more "gevulde speculaas" from De Bijenkorf (instead of just the supermarket kind) - it be 50% off - it be seasonal - and it be
goood ... last time I had some it left me
feeling like this ;-)
So am I supposed to talk about what luxury is or about what I recently saw that made me go ahhhh or yeahhh?
I pick the first option.
It all depends on where you're sitting when you think of something as being luxurious.
You might be riding on a Bens and thinking
A Ferrari Maranello is a luxury.
Another fella might be sitting on a Honda and thinking... A Bens is luxury.
I can be sitting anywhere thinking
Having a car is a luxury.
And the other day, while I sat outside the Federal Police building I saw this semi-malnutritious boy walking towards me. Alone, no shirt, no shoes, dirty face and hands.
- Can I have R$1 to buy myself something to eat for lunch?
- How old are you?
- I'm 9.
- Do you go to school?
- No.
- Are you really asking for money so you can buy food?
- Yes.
- Will you promise me, that if I give you money you will buy food with it?
<boy nodding>
So I handed him a handful of coins and watched him go
I think that to that boy, being able to count how much the change added up to would have been a luxury right there.
It's all about perspective.
silence... bless-ed silence...
Having my back cracked at the chiropractor's.
Time to relax and not be disturbed by anyone - that's
a luxury to me.
Having a PA all to yr self !! Now *that* is luxury
having prince all to myself
About 2 hours yesterday evening were pure luxury. It's been a rough stretch, kid's been sick a lot, still not sure what's up with that. Lots of sleepless nights and dealing with her needs. She's doing better (or was, more problems this a.m., but anyway), and E.G. took her out food shopping last night. I started to watch a silly silly movie called "Eloise's Christmas" -- beyond bad, really (they couldn't get the era straight -- Eloise chirps about vomiting on Coco Chanel but goes Christmas shopping in a very modern, plastic-y, moving-dinosaur-y "Toys R Us") but it was exactly what I was in the mood for. Beaded some Christmas ornaments I'm making as gifts, and watched.
All this snow feels luxurious, too. That inside-a-snowglobe feeling is lovely.

this is true... for finding time with you is like finding a needle in a hay stack
My son's been home for Christmas break and he's into cooking. He has been backing bread and cooking supper almost every night. I'm in heaven.
