My significant other is quite selfish and thoughtless when it comes to giving me gifts. In the 9 yars we've been together, I've officially received a coffee mug and Coco. So I recently mentioned something that I would have really lokd. On a whim he goes and buys not only 1 but 2 of them and while they weren't exactly what I wanted, I was happy that he saw beyond himself for once and half assed cared enough to get them. When I arrivsd home to my man, his friend's gf was at our house. He poudly presented me with the gifts. After accepting, he took one of theme and he and his his friend's gf, proceeded to use my gift, albeit I was asked to participate but declined out of sheer disgust for this rude and thoughtless behavior. It was made clear to me at that point that he bought these or at least the first one for himself and the one for me was an afterthought so he wouldn't look like an asshole. I'm extremely upset at the fact that I wasn't the one to use my gifts first before they were shared not only with him but his friend's gf whom I barely know nor do I particularly care for. Am I right to feel this way or am I just being petty and should I be grateful that I was at least an afterthought?
@AlwaysGuarded,
What sort of gifts are we talking about here?
A set of DVDs? Watercolor paints? A sweater? A vibrator? An electric piano?
