Vertigo at night in bed

I have had severe vertigo while lying in bed at night for quite some time. It is not every night--sometimes I won't have this for almost a year. But suddenly it just comes on. When I get up to sit on side of the bed, the room is spinning out of control. After these spells, I feel headachy in the daytime (no dizziness) and am uneasy that something is drastically wrong. My doctor years ago just dismissed this and I think there is more to this. Some of the posts seem to fit into what I have too.

@Marilynsandra,

i'm no doctor, but it could be BPPV, a form of Vertigo that is caused by something gone awry in the inner ear.

i had it for the first time in my life last year and it is not fun... however, it is also not very serious (unless you get it while driving),
and is actually quite common.

ask your doctor if he thinks you need an Epley Maneuver, or get a referral for an ENT...

good luck 😊

@Region Philbis,
I think RB has the right idea. That's the first thought that came to mind when I read your post.

@Marilynsandra,
I agree with the others, what you are experiencing is definitely a thing and there is a treatment for it. In the meantime, meclizine has been really helpful for my bouts of vertigo.
