Youtube ads and their respective revenue?

Does one have to watch (better .. just let it play out in the browser while you read/watch/whatever something else on another tab) a part or the entire ad for the channel you are watching to get their ad money?

Do you skip every and all skippable ads on Youtube as soon as the option comes up?

No idea as to the first part. For the second, I usually skip over the ad after the 5 seconds or whatever have passed.

The YouTube channels implied in said question fair pretty well in that department. Their full time jobs are their YouTube channel.
