Amazon prime eligible - 2 day delivery (but it takes a week)?

So I pay for this membership and we wanted something in 2 days (well 3 would work) and with an amazon prime membership you are supposed to get free delivery for anything noted as amazon prime eligible.

So we search for the time and select as a filter the little amazon prime button. Find what we want and go to checkout where you have a variety of delivery options - we go to choose free two day delivery, but it says it will be delivered over a week later - no explanation.

So we try another selection - same thing. Nothing says it is out of stock or anything just that two delivery's expected date is over a week and one day delivery is a week.

So I call and the representative tried to be helpful but his only explanation was it shipped only from the west coast. I asked then why does it then come up as amazon eligible when only for people who live in the neighborhood this is true shouldn't it say amazon eligible for those in xyz zip code only or something?

This seemed to be a first for this representative as he explained he hasn't heard of this happening before. He offered to have the one day delivery fee waived, but it really wasn't going to help as it would still take a week.

Anyone ever run into that?

@Linkat,
No, but I'm not prime. I have noted that Amazon often delivers way ahead of their estimate, so I suspect they are just ensuring that they always meet their promise.

As to Prime, if they advertise two day delivery, that's what they should deliver - allowing something for weekends, I suppose.
