TEXTBOOK TUSSLE: Two leading publishers agreed to change the wording of Texas health textbooks to depict marriage as a union between a man and woman.
REPUBLICAN REQUEST: Some Republican board members objected to terms like "married partners" instead of husband and wife. They believe such terms run counter to the state's ban on gay civil unions.
MARKET CLOUT: Texas is the nation's second-largest buyer of textbooks. That means a decision in Texas could affect books in dozens of other states.
