The report is to be in the format of an experimental write-up, with an
introduction, aim, method, results and conclusion for each question.
1. The Monza circuit, used for the ltalian Grand Prix, has lL corners. With
20 laps to go, you are in 18th position out of 22 drivers. With every
corner, you have a 15o/o chance of overtaking a car in front, as well as a
5% chance of being overtaken by a car behind.
a) Plot the probability distribution of finishing from 1" to 22nd.
b) What is the probability you finish 1't?
c) What is the probability you finish last?
