Basically this questions has been on my min for a good few months and don't know what to do. I'm 21 22 in September studying graphic design traineeship which leeds up to apprentice. The course last for 12weeks plus 3 week extra for work experience. The reason why I am having second thought about the program because av only been doing it for 12 weeks learning about the software etc And I don't feel that am ready. Plus's the company mainly focused on logo design and advertising, which I not that fussed about. Good thing will be I will earning money and gaining some experience same time and n a creative environment. Also ad only be doing is to make mi parents happy. (I know that not a good thing lol) but in my situation u probably be thinking the same thing. How ever if I was to the degree path my plan would be to do 1yr level 3 access Art and design course to get my A levels. Then to do another year foundation Games animation art to. By completing the foundation course I will automatically get on a 4yrs games design and animation course including 1yr workplace. The only downfall about this I will be age 27 when I graduate. Most people at my age by then would have already graduate n setel down. Me on the other hand might not have a job at the end of it or struggle to find one. The job I would like to do is games design/animation for VR and AR as I Know they will be a big thing in the future. I don't want spend 6yrs of mi life learning and not get anything from it other than a certificate stating a BA. Or spend 6yrs in graphic design doing Boucher n that. Let's say if I was to go into the apprentice gain experience n that, work my way up in graphic design, in 6yrs time would I be where I want to be of the amount time it would take for me to graduate? So Is it worth getting experience in graphic design or degree in games design/animation

@Louis95,
Do the apprenticeship. Make the money and the contacts. You may find you like what you are doing. Or maybe not, and that will solidify your position. Either one is good.

But the biggest thing you should be taking any class for in school is to ....

.......

.........

drumroll please ........

wait for it ...........

get a job.

Yes! It should all be geared to getting work. An apprenticeship will help, because even if the only contacts you make are in the logo designing field, they will still potentially know people who can help you get work that you (currently feel) is more your speed.
