outfitting a cabin with led lighting with removable, rechargeable power source

I'd like to install led light strips in my cabin to ultimately provide a strip of light to 6 separate sections of the space. We rarely go out there to stay the night, maybe 5 times a year, and it's in a spot where the locals will break in and use it during hunting seasons - so i would like to have the strips/switched run to a space that I can connect to a rechargeable 12 v battery that I'd bring with and take home to recharge. Most 'kits' i've found come with solar panels and seem more elaborate and permanent than I'm looking for. Has anyone designed or installed something like this?

@dalehileman,
The common led needs only a few volts so a series connection of 4-10 units might work with a 12-v batt. However only a slight overvoltage to the led will quickly burn it out
