See: http://biz.yahoo.com/rb/030204/financial_aig_4.html and hey, my portfolio's nearly halved (I used to work for AIG [NYSE symbol: AIG] so I've got lots of their stock). The news story's headline is: AIG Charge Shocks Industry, Slams Shares Essentially, shares are now at less than $50 apiece, down from their all-time high of $103 at the end of 2003.

I also have Pfizer [NYSE symbol: PFE], see: http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=pfe&d=v1 They're down to under $30/share (used to be about $50 or so, way back when). The url cited shows a bunch of bad news, including competition (Pfizer makes, among other things, Viagra) and lawsuits.

Anyway, it looks like I'll be working 'til I'm, I dunno, 87 or so.

I take it I'm not the only one who's taking a bath in the current market. Anyone else want to commiserate, and cry in their beer with me?

Time to rebound again, deja vu ecomony Crying or Very sad Hope you didn't turn that Pfizer into mortgage bank stocks Shocked

I am late to this one, I know.

I put my suoer funds into the High Risk/High Return portfolio a few years ago.

I assume my retirement funds recently took a major beating.

However, it's a long term (10 year) strategy, and I also assume they'll bounce back.

The trick is to pick the market peak closest to when I want to retire to move them into the low risk stream!!!!

let's see...commiserating along...

I just got laid off a week ago from a smaller-scale partner/division of Goldman-Sachs. So, guess what my activity will be for the next 3-6 months. Yes...that's right, looking for a job.

Oh..the last time I got laid-off was with a software division of Motorola. it took me a few yrs to get a job in high tech again. Oh yeah, with the dot.com bubble bust at that point my portfolio was cut in half again, too!

<singing> now it's Fun fun fun since Daddy took the eagle ($$$) away!
