i'm afraid i can't be of much help, besides the fact that when you get that random text like that, it means you're opening a file format in software that cannot intepret it. (for example, try opening an image file in notepad) perhaps if you let us know what the format was, we could help you get the correct software. aside from that, there's logging software for aim that would make you're life a whole lot easier.
