Had the cable repair man at the house, cable box looses power and wont reboot to watch television (not the box). Box works in other parts of the house on other tv sets, ran an extension cord from outlet that I know works to tv still no good. Has me turn on microwave oven and he ran a load test, amperage went down, should go up? Tells me I have a possible neutral problem and need an electrician. Why all of a sudden and what should I do? HELP!
@hockeydad20,

Hock, then the outlet or the tv itself doesn't really work

This will happen if you get gnd, ret mixed up
Quote:possible neutral problem
strongly suggested
Incidentally difficult to distinguish gnd from ret and so strongly recommend acquiring cheap voltohmmeter, get buddy to explain it

Yes. That's right. Don't bother with the previous suggestion. You'll get fried or blow up your stuff.

This is not a beginner electrical hobbyist, just a guy whose outlet doesn't work.
