Okay, so, back in November I moved about an hour away from where my friends live, and I barely ever get to see them because their mom is always busy (they have a big family). I don't have a way to change that, but I want to make some new friends. I'm not really that good at talking to people I don't know most of the time, and I don't know what to do.

Pursue your interests, whatever they are. Running, movies, art, knitting, I don't know. Be sure to do these things in a place where there are other people. That is, don't just sit in your room, but join a club or the like, and you will naturally have something to talk about with new people.
