Good point about Messenger, Don, it's one of the worst programs for leaving backdoors open to malware.

I am referred to you by HofT from another thread.
I - on the 3rd - received a Sasser.B worm............
On the 4th, I received=
Trojan horse IRC/ backdoor.Sdbot.67.BV
and
I-Sasser.E
and
Trojan horse Downloader.Istbar.4.BJ
and
Trojan horse Downloader.Small.13.N
Next morning - the 5th - I received=
worm/Lovsan.A
All this played havoc with my system...........
I went out and purchased=
Norton 2005
and
Spy Sweeper
They - together - did not stop the attacks.........
I followed HofT's suggestion and followed your advice to load=
CWShredder
Ad-Aware
Spybot
run BitDefender scan
and Trend Micro's Housecall scan
along with
the HJT program
All that seemed to stop the attacks..........
Except - I still have two files in two seperate temp folders which cannot be deleted.....
They are=
Perflib_Perfdata_588 ((name keeps changing slightly))
and
JET5487.tmp
Do you have a suggestion about deleting these files??

Go to Add/Remove programs and remove it from there,
Restart your computer after you have removed it.

messenger gone
I deleted messenger but can I reinstall or will all my problems start over again. I think my kids will shrivel up and die if they go without messenger much longer!! Since I have all the spyware/malware/virus protection now will it be okay?

Is everything seem to be working properly now ? If so yes you can download it again, just read carefully what it is downloading and what you are allowing to start on start up,
