I like folk rock. I think anybody could write country songs, just think of something sad and sappy!

Hi Baby_girl. Welcome to A2K!

Country has my vote also. Used to be that I couldn't imagine why anyone would listen to it. Then I started singing it....and grew to love it!

Likes most music except for rap!!

I can't narrow it down. It's all about what mood I am in.

Pessy, a quick story. I went to Nashville with a good country singer and the record people gave him a contract and fired the band. LOL

I'll never be a star, but singing a song as good as "Brokenheartsville" gives me the chills

Pan - I was in Nashville this past June with some girlfriends. We'd never seen any live performances of country stars, but saw them ALL at Fan Fair LOL. What a blast! Line dancing in the aisles...and Vince Gill's eyes are as gorgeous in person! (Guess you wouldn't care about that LOL).

We got to go all four nights ... stayed at Opryland Hotel...guess what? Not one political statement at any of the concerts!! Perhaps too early? I don't know, but I just now realized it.

Saw some great bluegrass performers during the day at various venues....would go back in a heartbeat if opportunity knocked.

I knew we had more in common JW.

I met Vince back a long time ago when he was playing Bluegrass and didn't notice his eyes. But I noticed he's one of the most down to earth "stars" in pop music. He's also one of the greatest guitar players I've ever heard.

Nashville is overwhelmingly conservative and goes with the Republican plank...except the Dixie Chicks...lol
I was proud of their stance...of course don't ya know.

'Course I knew Smile They (the chicks) weren't there, but not by design, I don't think...prolly had a prior engagement. Still...would have loved to see them do that "Earl's Gotta Die" song, sooooo funny.

One of the most moving moments....Martina McBride sang Somewhere Over the Rainbow acappella (sp?)....a man sitting behind us kept saying "wow....wow" over and over LOL. Was so beautiful...the song, I mean...gave me chills.

We took tons of pictures......went early to the concerts, left late....great people in Nashville...great hospitality, just perfect all around.

some repressed anger here

Mary Anne and Wanda were the best of friends
all through their high school days.
Both members of the 4h club
both active in the FFA.
After graduatin Mary Anne went out
lookin' for a bright new world.
Wanda looked all around this town
and all she found was Earl.

Well,it wasn't two weeks
after she got married that
Wanda started gettin' abused.
She put on dark glasses and long sleeved blouses
and makeup to cover a bruise.
Well, she finally got the nerve to file for divorce
she let the law take it from there,
but Earl walked right through that restraining order
and put her in intensive care.

Right away Mary Anne flew in from Atlanta
on a red eye midnight flight.
She held Wanda's hand as they
worked out a planand it didn't take 'em long to decide
that Earl had to die.

Goodbye Earl
Those black-eyed peas
they tasted all right to me Earl.
You're feelin' weak?
Why don't you lay down and sleep Earl.
Ain't it dark
wrapped up in that tarp Earl

The cops came by to bring Earl in
They searched the house
high and low.
Then they tipped their hats
and said "thank you ladies
if you hear from him let us know"

Well,the weeks went by and
spring turned to summer
and summer faded into fall.
And it turns out he was a missing person
who nobody missed at all.

So the girls bought some land
and a roadside stand out on Highway 109
They sell Tennessee ham and strawberry jam
and they don't lose any sleep at night

'Cause Earl had to die

Goodbye Earl
We need a break...
Lets go out to the lake Earl
We'll pack a lunch, and stuff you in the trunk, Earl
Is that alright? Good! Lets go for a ride, Earl. Hey!

We sing who we are at the moment.

We think of a line and a sentiment.

Some are sad blues,
The other good news,
The guys we can't use,
And the never meant.

At the moment I am thinking of a song of long ago.

Believe me if all those endearing young charms,
Which I gaze on so fondly today,
Were to flee by tomorrow
And melt in my arms,
Like fairy gifts fading away.

Thou would still be adored,
As this moment thou art,
Let they loveliness fade as it will,
And around the dear ruin
Each wish of my heart,
Would entwine itself verdantly still.

May not be quite the words,
But the message is there.
