Hi,
I am a complete newbie and I am about to buy an engagement ring with a diamond.
The diamond I have in mind is a GIA certified one and from what I can see the supplier offers it at about 35% cheaper than any other place (online and offline).
So I am a bit wary about the quality.
The supplier will give me the GIA certificate with the report number.
My questions:
1) Do all GIA diamonds have a laser inscription in the diamond that corresponds with the GIA report number?
2) If yes, can I see this laser inscription in the diamond when it is set in the ring?
3) Which tool would I need to see this... a diamond magnifier 10x or 30x or 40x or 60x, Triplet... which exact specifications would this little thingie need?
Thanks a bunch!
@basra,
Of all the places you may have thought of to ask, try your homeowner's insurance company. Yes, really! They cover this stuff all the time (and you should insure a diamond ring against loss, damage, or theft anyway).
